How involved is the lip augmentation procedure ?

Lip enhancement can be performed in several manners, varying in their technique and complexity. Synthetic dermal filler injections such as Restylane and Juvederm are most commonly used for lip augmentation as well.
This outpatient procedure takes less than an hour to perform; most methods are considered to be minimally invasive.

How long is the recovery after lip augmentation ?

After undergoing lip enhancement, most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately. No bandages are needed, and there is no required downtime. You may notice some bruising or swelling for a few days. During this period, avoid touching or rubbing your lips, which can move the injected material out of place. The recovery period is slightly longer with certain forms of lip enhancement, including fat transfer and synthetic implants.

When do you see the results of lip augmentation ?

Immediately. Of course there is a degree of swelling at first but after 24 hours your lips will be settled and will look the same for next few months to a year and half.
The numbing wears off in about 15 mins and you're free to go about your day.

What you need to be aware about?

There are no significant risks involved with lip surgery. However, there are many side-effects that one may experience. The side-effects include:

• Bruising and swelling
• Tenderness at the injection site
• Bleeding from the injection site
• Stiffening and scarring of the lip (few days)
• Result can be temporary or long lasting depending on the technique used.

It is advisable to seek medical attention if one develops severe fever and experiences extreme swelling in and around the lips.
