BOTOX

BOTOX® also known as “Dysport” or “Xeomin” is a popular type of injectable treatment for facial lines and wrinkles.

Botox is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions, and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing muscles. It is made from a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

Botox treatment is minimally invasive. It's considered a safe, effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet), forehead lines and frown lines between the eyes, Bunny lines around the nose, smoker’s line around the lips and chin dimples. According to a recent study, micro Botox injections can be given all over the face and neck as early as 25 years to delay the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to maintain flawless skin.

How does a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment work?

Botox Cosmetic works by temporarily blocking nerve signals and muscle contractions. This improves the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes and between the eyebrows. It can also slow the formation of new lines by preventing contraction of facial muscles.

How Is a Botox Procedure Performed?

It's a minimally invasive procedure. It doesn't involve incisions or general anaesthesia. If you're concerned about pain or discomfort, a topical anaesthetic or ice can numb the treatment area.

Botox is injected with a fine 30 gauze needle into the specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes three to seven days for the full effect and it is best to avoid alcohol at least one week prior to treatment.

Aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications should be stopped two weeks before treatment as well in order to reduce bruising.

How long is the recovery time after treatment?

Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your specialist's office.

How Long Does a Botox Injection Last?

You will notice results within 24 to 48 hours. Botox will last four to six months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and wrinkles need to be re-treated. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

How long is the treatment & is it a very painful one?

Botox treatment for wrinkles usually takes 10 – 15 minutes but the entire consultation time may take around 30 to 45 minutes.

Most of the patients report that being injected with BOTOX® Cosmetic feels like a pinch. Your specialist may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, your specialist can instead apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.

For whom this treatment is not suitable?

Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease cannot use this treatment. Since Botox doesn't work for all wrinkles, a consultation with a doctor is recommended.

Who are the BOTOX® Injection Candidates?

  • -Frown lines
  • -Crow's feet
  • -Forehead wrinkles
