The whole idea of fillers is to give the face a more youthful appearance. The results are immediate and cost a fraction of the traditional facelift. It is popularly known as “Liquid Lift”. It has no downtime and done as an office procedure. The results last from a few months to more than a year.
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are substances which are injected beneath the skin surface to smoothen out wrinkles and add volume. These are made of stabilized hyaluronic acid (HA) which also occurs naturally in the cells of the skin. This filler works by drawing in water and thus reduces the wrinkles by adding volume. These are biodegradable and hence are not permanent.
What areas can dermal fillers be used for?
Dermal fillers are used practically in all areas of an aging face where volume addition is necessary to rejuvenate and give it a more youthful appearance.
Is the procedure painful and how long does it take?
These filler injections are done by 30 gauge needle and are absolutely painless if done in the right plane by an experienced cosmetic surgeon. The procedure normally takes 15 to 30 minutes. Makeup can be applied immediately after the procedure and you can go straight back to work.
How soon will I see the results and how long does it last?
Results are seen immediately after the treatment though it gradually improves for 2 to 4 weeks. Results last between 6 to 18 months depending on the brand used.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Hyaluronic acid is a substance which naturally occurs in the cells of the skin hence there is no risk of allergic reactions. It has been widely used internationally for the last two decades with an excellent track record.
Are there any side effects?
Dermal fillers have undergone extensive research and have come a long way from collagen injections to hyaluronic acid. Advanced injection techniques coupled with the use of a micro cannula (blunt needle) and improved product safety means that significant side effects are practically nonexistent.
