How Can I Restore My Hair?
Hair PRP Therapy
The Major breakthrough in the treatment armamentarium of male pattern baldness has been the addition of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).
PRP Therapy for hair loss is a three-step medical treatment in which a patient's blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp.
PRP has nine growth factors which induce regrowth of dying follicles under the effect of male circulating hormones.
Advantages of PRP Therapy are:
-A simple, non-surgical procedure
-Multiple Injections: procedure lasting approximately 30 minutes
-Safe and reliable results
-The very quick recovery period
-Beautiful and above all extremely natural looking end results
How does PRP therapy work for hair loss?
Male pattern baldness is the sensitivity of the hair follicles to the male hormone testosterone present in the blood circulation. PRP has nine growth factors which prevent these hair follicles from degenerating by pushing them to grow again.
What is the process for PRP therapy?
PRP therapy is a three-step process. Most PRP therapy requires six treatments 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are required every 4–6 months.
Step 1
20 to 30 ml blood is drawn — typically from your arm — and put into a centrifuge — a machine that spins rapidly to separate fluids of different densities.
Step 2
After about 10 minutes in the centrifuge, your blood will separate into three layers:
- Platelet-poor plasma
- Platelet-rich plasma
- Red blood cells
Step 3
The platelet-rich plasma is drawn up into a syringe and then injected into areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth.
How many treatments are required?
While your exact amount of treatments will be determined by you and the doctor and based on your personal needs, most patients choose a standard routine of treatment. In most cases, PRP therapy is performed monthly for a period of six months to deliver the most advanced results.
What are the side effects of PRP therapy?
Because PRP therapy involves injecting your own blood into your scalp, you aren't at risk for getting a communicable disease/allergy.
Is PRP therapy right for me?
All patients of male pattern baldness and some patients of alopecia areata (Idiopathic patchy hair loss) have a near 90% success rate in our center. However, all patients of baldness between 18 to 60 Years can have a three months trial to see if PRP is going to help them.
Do I need Hair Transplant with PRP?
Hair transplant can be considered after three sessions of PRP depending on the response rate and also in areas where hair loss is complete. However, Hair transplant should always be coupled with PRP to retain and regrow the dying follicles for luxurious hair growth.
